The installation of the magnetic scale is very important. It must be written very carefully and clearly in the installation method manual. You should read it carefully. The cable should also have a standard, if not, see the interface definition on the manual. The connection method with the computer depends on the type of your grating ruler (many types).

The magnetic scale and the reading head should be installed on the stationary and moving parts of the equipment respectively.

Adjust the magnetic scale to ensure that the movement trajectory of the magnetic scale and the device is parallel (generally, the parallelism is controlled within 0.05mm).

Plug the cable connector of the reading head into the digital display, numerical control system or data acquisition together (pay attention to the interface definition of the reading head), then the displacement between the reading head and the magnetic scale can be measured.
